Steps to Hiring an International Student...
1. Advertise positions in ways to ensure that international students are aware they are eligible to apply.
In addition to the requirements for the position(s), the employer could state that international students are eligible to apply.
2. Inform the student that (s)he has been chosen for the position:
This will allow the student to gather the necessary paperwork and fees to apply for a work permit once a formal job offer has been issued, as per Step 3.
In case the student and the employer are not aware of the steps to be followed, (s)he can visit the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website for off-campus work permits, and post-graduation work permits.

3. Prepare the job offer letter and include the following information:
- The job title with the job description (duties and responsibilities).
- The education, skills and experience required for the job.
- A specific start date and the expected end date for employment.
- The salary or wages and other benefits being offered.
- The physical address of the work site and the supervisor's contact details.
Note: A work permit can take up to 13 business days to process because applications are mailed to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville, Alberta. For more information, visit the IRCC website.
